Summer Swap Wrap Up

Standard

Hello, Friends!

I have so much to share with you today. I have had a lot of projects up in the air over the last few weeks. So, I’ll start with only the completed ones. First up is the Scrappy Mug Rug swap.

I created this pear themed mug rug for my first international partner. I did a lot of embroidery and I hand quilted around the pears. I turned out exactly liked I had envisioned and it was really hard to mail.

I received this mug rug from my partner.

I was thrilled that she made me a Union Jack. I guess having 3 different ones in my mosaic gave her enough of a hint!

For the RATZ Swap, our project was name tags. Ironically I wound up with the same partner I had for the mug rug swap. So I was able to mail them together and save on shipping!

I chose two of her favorite colors to create this patchwork name tag. It came together really quick and was fun to make.

Now, I’m off to work on the Scrappy Bits Swap.

Happy Sewing!

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

I’ve had a pretty productive week. I spent quite some time working on my Etsy shop. I revamped some listings and added international shipping to some items. I am working towards having international shipping on all my items. I have also been working on some embroidery patterns. I am hoping to have some of you test out the patterns for me in the near future. Stay tuned for more details in the next few weeks.

Completed Projects:

Let’s Go Fly a Kite

My first Artist Trading Card. I love it so much and it will be so hard to part with it when it sells. Maybe I should make some business cards or postcards with the image on it.

Magnets for RATZ swap- I picked the best 6 and mailed those. I hope my partner likes them!

Yo-yo hair clips for a sweet little girl’s birthday- forgot to take a pic 😦
The tutorial I used can be found here.

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

I attended my first Shop Hop this past week. There were 11 stores participating. On the first day of the hop,  I was going to go to the first 7 stores (all outside of Buffalo) when my car battery died. So, I was only able to go to the 4 that were closest to me. I had a great time and picked up some fabulous fat quarters.

Now to my weekly progress….

New Project:

I decided to participate in the Zakka Sew Along this week. We are making the Orchard Path Tweed Pouch from “Zakka Style” . I have completed my hexies so far. I will be starting on the pouch today (I hope). View the tutorial on Elizabeth’s blog

Finished Projects:

Owl Mug Rug
Finally got around to binding it ! I haven’t decided if I should keep or sell.

Patchwork Journal Cover

I used the tutorial from Bloom. My only hiccup was the lining fabric placement. The directions weren’t clear enough for me and my tired brain. I did, after 30 minutes, figure it all out. So, in the end, it turned out just the way I envisioned it. My cousin received it just in time and really loves it!

Ongoing Projects:

Magnets
Farmer’s Wife blocks
Americana BOM quilt
Flurry Quilt

Hello, Stranger

Standard

I can’t believe how long it has been since my last post. So much has been happening around here. First, Gigi came and spent 9 days with us. We took her all over the place and wore ourselves out. After a few days of recovery, sickness hit out house. Mr. Penguin was sick with a cold for about a week and then I had a fierce allergy attack. Lil Penguin remained healthy and was great company for us sickies.

After all that I got busy on Christmas presents and then I had to start planning for my first solo Thanksgiving. So I have for you some pictures of what I have been working on. Enjoy!

Mug Rug Swap

Standard

So I made my first mug rug a few months ago and I became hooked. I love how quickly they come together and you came make them simple or complex. So naturally, I joined a Mug Rug Swap on Flickr. This is my first swap ever! Last night I received my package.  This mug rug is so adorable and I can’t wait to use it.       Don’t you just love the ice skating elves?

She was kind enough to include a special package for Lil Penguin. He was so overjoyed to get a present, too. He was so excited, he just couldn’t stop talking about all his goodies.

I am overwhelmed by the generosity of my partner. Look at all these goodies!

My partner made my first swap amazing. Show her some love on her blog Sew How’s This?

I’ll be sharing my mug rug details tomorrow. Stay tuned!

It’s been a crazy week around here. In fact, I’ve had so much on my mind that I left my new purse at Starbucks! I never prayed so hard in my life!! By the grace of God, my purse was exactly where I had left it an hour before with everything intact! In fact, the table looked like we left 5 minutes ago. So to help calm my buzzing brain, I’ve declared this week Finish it Up! I have quite a few projects floating around half done. I also need to make Lil Penguin’s birthday gifts by Friday.
