Mosaic Magic

I have finally made my first mosaic! I had previously shied away from making them because I was afraid that they would be very time-consuming. I found the process of making them quick and easy, but finding your favorite projects takes time.

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

I’ve had a pretty productive week. I spent quite some time working on my Etsy shop. I revamped some listings and added international shipping to some items. I am working towards having international shipping on all my items. I have also been working on some embroidery patterns. I am hoping to have some of you test out the patterns for me in the near future. Stay tuned for more details in the next few weeks.

Completed Projects:

Let’s Go Fly a Kite

My first Artist Trading Card. I love it so much and it will be so hard to part with it when it sells. Maybe I should make some business cards or postcards with the image on it.

Magnets for RATZ swap- I picked the best 6 and mailed those. I hope my partner likes them!

Yo-yo hair clips for a sweet little girl’s birthday- forgot to take a pic 😦
The tutorial I used can be found here.

Fat quarter swap bundle and notions-  I got it ready and mailed off.

New Project

Cup o’ Joe mug rug- I am embroidering a coffee cup right now and I’m keeping under wraps until the top is done.

Drool Worthy Items

Standard

I’ve noticed some amazing items this week as I have been reading blogs and trolling on  Etsy and Hawthorne Threads. I decided to share some of my favorites with you.

Check out the pattern for this AMAZING coat! I LOVE it. Don’t you?

You can buy it here.

This fabric combines two things I love: the Eiffel Tower and the red/aqua combination. It is so gorgeous and get’s the Lil Penguin stamp of approval! He says it would make great pillows.

You can buy it here.

While we’re travelling through Europe, check out some London inspired fabric.

You can buy it here.

I love that the owls are wearing hats and ear muffs on the Christmas fabric. So cute.

I really like this modern Christmas fabric. It’s so festive and pretty.

I hope you enjoyed my drool worthy picks. Feel free to share with me your own drool worthy prints through comments or e-mail.

Happy sewing!

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

This week has flown by! Sadly, I really have not had much sewing time. I did, however, organize my sewing area in the dining room. It’s still a work in progress, but at least I can easily find things now. After tidying, one thing  became very clear. My U.F.O basket is full! Completely full.  Apparently I really need to work on that. My new mantra will be “No more new projects”, at least until I finish some UFOs!

New Projects:

I just received my package from Quilts for Kids. I’m very excited and can’t wait to get started. It’s a really great cause and they send you the materials for free.

In Progress:

I’m almost finished with my magnets. After making hexies last week, I thought they would make cute magnets, too. So I have 2 sets basted and ready to become magnets. I finished stitching up 2 of the log cabins, but only 1 is sticking to my fridge! So I have to redo one 😦

I got the pattern and fabric cut out for the Orchard Path pouch. But, I need to go to the store for a matching zipper and some flusible fleece before I can finish it.

Ongoing Projects:

Orchard Path Pouch
Farmer’s Wife blocks
Americana BOM quilt
Flurry Quilt

Finished Projects:

3 Tee Shirt Canvas prints

My Craft Board

Standard

Ok, I have a confession. I’m a Pinterest Addict.

To control my addiction, I can only visit Pinterest a couple of times a month (for an allotted amount of time). Am I the only one with this problem? I’m guessing not! I thought I would share some of my latest obsession with you. Here’s my craft board with all the wonderful things I want to make. One day I’ll get them all done. Hopefully!

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

I attended my first Shop Hop this past week. There were 11 stores participating. On the first day of the hop,  I was going to go to the first 7 stores (all outside of Buffalo) when my car battery died. So, I was only able to go to the 4 that were closest to me. I had a great time and picked up some fabulous fat quarters.

Now to my weekly progress….

New Project:

I decided to participate in the Zakka Sew Along this week. We are making the Orchard Path Tweed Pouch from “Zakka Style” . I have completed my hexies so far. I will be starting on the pouch today (I hope). View the tutorial on Elizabeth’s blog

Finished Projects:

Owl Mug Rug
Finally got around to binding it ! I haven’t decided if I should keep or sell.

Patchwork Journal Cover

I used the tutorial from Bloom. My only hiccup was the lining fabric placement. The directions weren’t clear enough for me and my tired brain. I did, after 30 minutes, figure it all out. So, in the end, it turned out just the way I envisioned it. My cousin received it just in time and really loves it!

Ongoing Projects:

Magnets
Farmer’s Wife blocks
Americana BOM quilt
Flurry Quilt

Swaps & Projects

Standard

I can’t believe a week has passed since my last post. I had the allergy attack of the century after my homeschool co-op went to the zoo last Wednesday! I don’t know what is blooming right now, but it’s been brutal on my sinuses. This package definitely aided my recovery!

Thank you, Alisha! I don’t have a lot of solids, so I’m very happy she sent me so many lovely kona solids.  This package was from the ALFALC swap on Flickr. We send out fat quarters, chocolate and some notions to our partner. I really love this swap and I can’t wait for the next one!

I just joined another swap on Flickr called Rapid and Tiny Zakka Swap.   The June swap is magnets. I have already started. I made 3 mini log cabin tops from the book ” Zakka Style“.  Here they are:

Offset Log Cabin Magnets

I’m also going to make some yo-yo magnets and  clear glass magnets. When I get some done, I’ll be sure to post some photos.

Today, I will be making a journal cover for my cousin. She’s graduating from high school and will be spending a year in Guatemala. I thought having a beautiful sketch book would be useful. I need to get it done ASAP and mail it off. I’ll post some photos when I’m done.

I’m off to stitch away!
